and the winner is:

P007B - Charge Air Cooler Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1)

P007B apparently indicates “over range” charge-air-cooler temperature in excess of 250 degrees. (the C error is an under-range error)

I’ve re-set the code, we’ll see how soon/if it reoccurs, and if it does I get to hit up Ford for a new Charge-air-cooler temp sensor (which is apparently integrated with the charge-pressure control sensor?)

There's a TSB for that sensor on the 1.6T in the older (2013ish) Escape though I think it was mounted on top of the intercooler in that application.

charge air cooler leak maybe? clogged? Just a glitch? Hopefully it’s nothing too bad

As mentioned in my earlier post (not linked in this one) it’s running fine, no unusual performance, expected fuel economy, etc... there is also a seperate code for a pressure issue, this one pertains only to the temperature sensor, and since an “out of range (high temp)” reading on that would normally indicate something quite severe (exhaust leak THROUGH the turbo??) my money is on a bad sensor or a loose wire.

hmmm, mine is an early 2014 FieSTa... good to know.

we had a V60 (Ford T-5) all of a sudden come in for a similar Volvo specific code and a burning smell. Dang turbo at one point was starting to glow at idle. A simple ECM reload fixed that

having a combined TMAP (temperature [and] manifold absolute pressure) sensor is pretty standard on a lot of vehicles.

I think ST’s run speed-density engine calibrations ( I know EB mustangs do), so that sensor is pretty important. If there is an error it will assume some default value to keep the engine running OK.

Take it easy with the driving and take it to a dealer.

I reset the code, it’s only been one drive cycle since I did that... I’ll take it easy, and if it comes back I’ll definitely be scheduling an appointment ASAP.
